All measurements are in centimeters (1"=2.54 cm).
Determining Your Pattern Size
To determine your size for this pattern, you need two measurements.
Under Bust (Rib Cage)
Wearing your best fitted bra, measure your under bust, pulling the tape snug against the skin but not tight. The closest even number to this measurement is your band size. If you measure 34” on the under bust, you take a 34” band size. If you measure 35” on the under bust and you normally use 36”. Keep in mind, that you will probably get a better fit if you use centimeters. When measuring yourself, be sure to hold the tape level and not twisted.
Full Bust
Now measure over the fullest part of the bust. Do not pull the tape tight, just snug enough to keep it from sliding down. This gives you the full bust measurement.
Calculating the Bra Size
Subtract the under bust measurement from the full bust measurement to determine the cup size. The difference in inches (centimeters) is the cup size.
4 inches (10 cm to 12.5 cm) = A cup
5 inches (12.5 cm to 15 cm) = B cup
6 inches (15 cm to 17.5 cm) = C cup
7 inches (17.5 cm to 20 cm) = D
8 inches (20 cm to 22.5 cm) = E
9 inches (22.5 cm to 25 cm) = F cup
10 inches (25 cm to 27.5 cm) = G cup
11 inches (27.5 cm to 30 cm) = H cup
12 inches (30c to 32.5 cm) = I cup
Example: 40” full bust – 36” under bust = A cup size (4 inch difference)
PLEASE NOTE: While measurements and sizing are listed in inches, you will get a more accurate sizing result if you use centimeters.
